  1. Trek X-Caliber 5
I have had many bikes before but this is my new favorite. The Trek X-Caliber is a great hard tail bike. This means there is suspension in the front, and only in the front. I got this bike at All American Bicycle Center in Damascus, Maryland. I got my bike on August, 1 2013. I was so excited to upgrade from my Trek 3500. When I took the new bike for a test ride I knew it was the one. The gear changes were immediate and the frame was very light I could bunny hop and do jumps extremely easily.
The Trek X Caliber 5 comes in a range of sizes. It comes in 14.5, 15.5, 17.5, 18.5, 19.5, 21.5, and 23 inches. Also you can get two different color variants. Matte Lava Black with Gunmetal Blue, or Signature Silver with Team Green. Personally, I like the silver and green. The frame is made of tough aluminum. The bike features G2 Geometry which means the suspension fork is offset for better low speed handling to compensate for the large, 29 inch wheels. Also when you are ripping down the mountain or riding the trails, the Wellgo Nylon peddles will keep your feet glued to the pedals. After a while the pedals will start to wear down so you will have to buy a new pair.
My old bike was a hard tail bike called the Trek 3500. It was a small mountain bike with 26 inch wheels. Its frame was 16 inches tall so switching from the 3500 to the X Caliber was a big change. The Trek 3500 had small spring suspension of 75mm. The X Caliber has a 100mm suspension fork with an 80mm travel. Both bikes have the Wellgo Nylon pedals. The X Caliber has 29 inch wheels, and the 3500 has 26 inch wheels which gives the X Caliber an advantage when jumping, trail riding, and all around better performance. Both bikes have preload, coil spring suspension which is very good for any type of riding.
On the trail the X Caliber is very maneuverable even with the large frame and large wheels. You can set the suspension to be anywhere between very loose to very hard. Flying down a tight trail feels almost easy on the bike with the wide handlebars and light frame. I like going off big jumps or big drops. The bike is very easy to handle when in midair and when in tight spaces. The quick gear changes are great for going up steep hills immediately or taking long or short turns. When riding over logs or stumps, the bike almost glides over it. Overall the bike is a great bike for trail riding.
My new favorite bike is the Trek X Caliber 5. This hard tail bike is great for all types of biking, road, cross-country, Enduro, free-ride, downhill, and dirt jumps. I got my bike at the All American Bicycle Center in Damascus Maryland on August 1, 2013. The price is reasonable too. A price of $699 is a great price for a strong, tough, durable bike. You need to get yourself a Trek X Caliber 5.
