Show Review: One Piece Anime One Piece, what’s that? One Piece started as a manga (Japanese version of a comic) and now is both a manga and anime (a style of Japanese film and television animation), but this review is on its animated version. You can watch the anime yourself by visiting www.watchop.com. One Piece was created by Eiichiro Oda and it has been aired on Toei Animation for over 15 years! In addition to all of this, One Piece is one of the top rated anime and manga of all time, both in America and Japan. This anime is set in a time where pirates rule the world and a boy named Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world's ultimate treasure known as "One Piece" in order to become the next Pirate King. Luffy and many other pirates, including his older brother, try to obtain the ultimate treasure, thus giving Luffy and his crew tons of competition. Also there are times where Luffy helps other people or his crew mates deal with large problems, but for some reason they always get blamed with doing something bad (I wonder why…). Overall, One Piece stands out from many other anime and has one of the best plots ever. Like every good show, there has to be excellent characters. In One Piece there are nine main characters named Luffy (most important character), Zoro (swordsman), Nami (navigator), Sanji (chef), Robin (archeologist), Usopp (sniper), Frank (shipwright), and Brook (musician). Each of these characters have their own backgrounds and are very humorous in their own ways. For example Sanji has some very funny moments when he meets girls… All of these characters are introduced in phenomenal ways, and not all at the same time, throughout the series and when they are introduced for the first time, you (the watcher) don’t always suspect what the characters future motives are. This anime is very action-packed and has an amazing plot. Throughout the entire 600+ episodes there has always been one main goal and that is for Luffy to become the next Pirate King. Over the course of the 600+ episodes Luffy makes friends and eventually forms a pirate crew with those friends. One Piece also has multiple main arcs and mini arcs that connect the main arcs together. In addition all, but one, of the main arcs are very entertaining thus giving the anime more action. Also there are many fight scenes (not bloody) that are very entertaining and sometimes they give you a new perspective on the characters. In addition every character in the anime, whether it be friend or foe, is likeable in a way. Unlike most other anime, One Piece has more hand drawn like pictures. In the earlier parts of the anime the designs can turn viewers off but after a while you (the watcher) can get used to it and the illustrations themselves get better over the course off the 600+ episodes. Sadly the art to this anime is not the best it could be, but even though the art is not superb the overall anime is great and can overcome the art. Also if by any chance you prefer hand drawn art, you will absolutely love this anime.
Compared to all other anime and regular American television shows, One Piece is one of a kind. Most television shows and anime never really involve pirates, but One Piece is all about them. Honestly, how many shows have you seen where the main character is a pirate (not Pirates of the Caribbean). Due to this, the anime may get confusing because from your point of view the bad guys are the navy and the enemy pirates, the only good guys are Luffy and his crew and the friends that he makes on the way. Also, since Luffy and his crew are pirates everything they do whether good or bad is blamed on them by the navy. This also gives the crew bounties which increase over time (they get pretty high). Don’t mind me, but I must end this review early so that I can re-watch some of the many episodes which One Piece entails and get very emotional (in my mind) whenever something tragic happens (it happens quite often). Also many anime watchers (people that have watch over 1,000 anime) consider One Piece the best anime. In the end all I want to say is that you (the reader) should type the url www.watchop.com and watch One Piece.
Interesting, hilarious, emotional. These are but a few characteristics of the hands-down best anime, One piece. Anime are TV shows that are made in Japan. They have different animations and demographics than ones made in the United States. Since anime is made in Japan, the shows are subbed and dubbed in English. One piece is definitely the most interesting and original anime there is. The anime of One Piece is based off of its manga that was made by Eiichiro Oda on December 24, 1997. Manga are very similar to comic books. The manga of One Piece is the bestseller of all time with about 345 million copies sold. The graphics of One Piece have improved since it was released in the late 1990’s. The anime of One Piece has been running for 15 years now, and it now has an astonishing 673 episodes. New episodes are released every Saturday at 9:30pm EST. Most amines are relatively short, with usually only 10-60 episodes. Nevertheless, that just means that One Piece has been entertaining people longer. One Piece takes place in the 17th century and is about an up and coming pirate named Monkey D. “Straw hat” Luffy who strives to find the ultimate pirate treasure, the One Piece. The One Piece is the treasure that was hidden by the king of the pirates before he was executed by the World Government, an antagonist. It is said that the one who finds the One Piece becomes the new king of the pirates. Most pirates scour the seas to find the One Piece in vain, but Luffy (surnames and first names in animes are switched) finds his adventures, memories, and friends to be of the same importance as his goals. The story of One Piece contains a few connections to actual history. For example, in the past, there were pirates named ‘Captain Kidd’ and another nicknamed ‘Blackbeard’. These people are also characters in One Piece. Although One Piece has some real life ties, it is actually a fantasy and adventure anime. In One Piece, a few people have eaten things named Devil Fruits. These fruits give people mysterious and unique powers, but eliminate their ability to swim. Clearly, anyone can see that One Piece is an original, interesting, and awesome anime. One of the best elements of One Piece is the characters, mainly Luffy's crew. As Luffy’s adventures go along, he adds more people to his crew. All of these people show exemplary skill at one thing. An example of this that Zoro, the second crew member and most viewers’ favorite character, is an exceptional swordsman. In addition, everyone on the crew has an ambition that keeps their thirst for adventure unquenchable. Luffy’s ambition is to be the king of the pirates; it is referred to be the boldest goal to have. Through their adventures, the crew members protect each other, but they also fight and party. When the crew members are serious, they are usually are fighting for one of their friends. The dialogue is One Piece when the crew is serious is powerful. The crew members said bold statement that are perfect for the situation they are in; what the characters say leave the viewer in a state of awe. However, the crew is joyous and silly most of the time. The actions of Luffy's pirate crew, the "Straw Hat Pirates", make the viewer addicted to One Piece. Other than the crew, there are other pirates, marines (part of the main antagonists), and powerful people of the World Government. These people are usually fun, ignorant, and strong. All of these traits make each character in One Piece interesting and lovable.
Another great thing about One Piece is that it is hilarious, especially the crew. In One Piece, characters can make jokes whether they are struggling in a dessert or freezing on a mountain. Moreover, their reactions to what they do is comedy gold because they are completely exaggerated and over the top. The behavior of different people can make your side hurt because of all the laughing you are doing. Luffy is the most unintelligent person in One Piece that was introduced. For Pete's sake, once, he turned down someone's gratitude because he could not eat it. Another example is when Luffy lost his crew in an island called Alabasta. The marines started chasing him down, making a lot of noise in the process. The crew, still looking for Luffy, wondered about the noise. Sanji, the chef, proposed, "The marines are probably chasing some dumbass pirate." Instantly, they all thought of Luffy. People's behavior on a daily bases is funny, too. Sanji chases all the ladies (every anime has someone like that); Usopp, the sniper, is a coward who makes himself look good by telling the most outrageous lies; lastly, the historian is a ray of sunshine: "Maybe if we all get crushed, the oceans might turn red with our blood." One could argue that One Piece is actually a comedy rather than an action/adventure. Finally, One Piece is very emotional. Everyone on the crew has very depressing and heart-touching backstories, but when they all become comrades, each crew member doesn't look back on their previously terrible lives. One could say that each member was reborn once they joined the crew. Next, the value of the Straw Hats' lives, to each other, is the most important thing to them. On one arc, all of the Straw Hats risked their lives by declaring war on the World Government to save one of their comrades. Furthermore, emotional moments are very powerful. Every moment is slowed down, extended, and has very little tension. One piece does everything to make sure you feel like the characters who are involved. On forums, many people stated that they cried when the Straw Hats gave their broken ship a funeral. Not many animes can do that to someone. Many emotional moments are one of anger rather than sorrow or joy. If someone hurts one of the Straw Hats or their friends, they get furious. One Piece does a great job to ensure you are, too. Nobody likes a show or movie that is all fighting or all heartwarming. One Piece is famous for its emotions and how they are portrayed, and it does not disappoint. To sum up, One Piece is simply fantastic. It will be sure to keep you up at night, like a good book. One Piece has interesting characters, is very funny, and is very emotional at times. The story is unforgettable and definitely unique. One Piece is on many top ten anime lists, and is very much number one.
