Sword Art Online

  1. It’s been two long years since this death game began! SAO (Sword Art Online) an anime about 10,000 gamers that get trapped in a game and the only way to get out is by beating all 100 bosses in Aincrad (the name of the virtual world). Using full dive technology Kayaba Akihiko has created a whole virtual reality that actually puts all of your senses into the game. Main character Kirigaya Kazuto voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka A.K.A. Kirito is one of these 10,000. He was also a beta tester for the game. He meets a new player Klien. And so Kirito’s adventure begins!

Based off of the light novel written by Reki Kawahara SAO was turned from light novel, to manga, to anime. Actually SAO has gotten so famous that they have made 4 video games about it. Right now it is one of the top animes worldwide. At the moment SAO is on its second season, although in my opinion nothing was better than the first season. Season 1 came out between July and December 2012. A special movie came out in 2013, and the second season aired April 2014 and is still ongoing.

The cast of SAO includes; Kirito/ Kirigaya kazuto: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Asuna Yuuki: Haruka Tomatsu, Klein / Ryotaro Tsuboi: Hiroaki Hirata, Leafa / Suguha Kirigaya: Ayana Taketatsu, Yui: Kanae Ito, Silica / Keiko Ayano: Rina Hidaka, Lisbeth / Rika Shinozaki: Ayahi Takagaki, Agil / Andrew Gilbert Mills: Hiroki Yasumoto, Sinon / Shino Asada: Miyuki Sawashiro, Yuki Konno: Aoi Yuuki. As well as many guest stars that pop up in the series.

Along with all of the amazing positives to SAO, there are some drawbacks. The timeline is a bit screwed up. You start on floor one, the first of 100, and you advance levels to get to the top. However SAO does not go level by level. The anime starts on level one and jumps up a few floors, then it makes a huge jump to level 20, then up to 50, to 60, and then back down to 50. So as you can see the writing and timeline of the anime is a little bit quirky, but overall the anime is awesome.

All in all, SAO has its drawbacks, but really since you can find it at almost any anime website online for free it is a really good anime. A-1 Pictures has quite outdone themselves with this one. If you haven’t watched it yet I don’t know why you’re still reading this review you should be watching episode one by now.

  2. Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online is action filled, heartwarming, and a quite addictive TV series. The author of the original novel, which then was made into a TV series, is Reki Kawahara. His idea of the series was to have all participants of SAO ( Sword Art Online ) to be trapped inside the virtual game. Head gear is required for to participate. Kirito, is the main character of this death game.
When the players learn they are in a death game in episode 1, you can feel the guilt as you look at the players terrified faces. That’s something great about the series, you can feel their emotions. Each episode makes you want to watch more. Originally spoken in Japanese, as the first episode was released on July 7, 2012, English dubbed episode 1 came out on July 27, 2013. Many tragic and possibly gory scenes take place such as deaths, fights, and few romantic scenes. So you get a variety of things out of SAO.
By dying in the game, having someone in real life attempt to remove your head gear, ensures your death in the virtual world, and in real life. Technology in the head gear destroys your brain as the system of the game detects your death inside the game. Also, Kirito is quite the charmer as well. With 4 girls interested in him, one sticks out to him, but you’ll have to watch season 1 to find out who!
Asuna Yuki, the female lead, is known for her fighting. Second in command of the number 1 guild in SAO (The Knights of the Blood Oath) she and Kirito grow on each other throughout the series. Could this be the girl he ends up with? Or is someone else special in his eyes. As you watch more and more of SAO, you can get feelings that make you very excited, and happy. That’s what’s great about this series, it makes you happy. Also on the Top Ten Anime List, SAO is second, but to all of the SAO fans hearts, its number one.
So after all that’s been said, SAO is a great series, to all reading you should check out both the novel and the TV series. What happens in SAO, and I warn you (not in a bad way), will make you want to cry, smile, and shiver with fear. Everything that takes place is fiction, but as SAO takes place in the 2020’s, engineers are working on headgear for such game play. Go check out SAO!
