Have you ever seen a knockoff brand of something and it’s cheap? Well, I know I have. Sometimes different brands lie about their product and what that product can do. I am talking about a phone case that I got off of Amazon in the summer of 2014. This particular phone case is called a waterproof shockproof dirtproof snowproof protection case cover for Apple IPhone 4-4s. This case is by Seasonwind and sold by Evergoods. This case was originally $20 but bumped down to under $10 and free shipping. So, of course I bought it.
As I was looking at the directions on how to put it on, I saw on the back that it said that you can put your phone with the case in water up to 6 feet.it also said that you can take pictures under water too. So obviously I was going to test it out at my community pool the next day with my friend. I really wanted to test it out the day I got it, so I went to my sink and took a picture under the water and it worked! The picture came out decent. I thought this IPhone case came out pretty good for $5.
The next day, I went to the pool. My friend and I wanted to take a picture underwater. Before I went in the pool with my phone, I made sure all of the edges of my phone case were secured and they were. I jumped in the water to take a couple under water pictures. I made sure I was above six feet because of what the directions said. I got out of the water to see the pictures. I clicked on my photo gallery and I noticed that my phone, for some reason, was quite slow. The pictures ended up not turning out, so we tried it again. This time, the pictures turned out pretty good, but I saw water seeping through onto my phone. I quickly took off my case and dried my phone. I thought the directions said that water would not go through the case! It was the last day of summer break and wanted to have pictures of all the fun I had. So for the last time, I took my phone underwater with my friend and my sister took a picture of us. My sister said that she couldn’t take a picture because my phone turned blank. I quickly got out of the water again, and I decided never to put my phone with its “protective and waterproof” case underwater ever again.
I went home with my messed up phone case and my phone still wouldn’t turn on! An hour later, it turned on but one thing I noticed is that my phone got a heck of a lot slower. I wanted to look at the photos I got today. I was scrolling through the photos and videos, and I watched a video from the day before and the volume wasn’t working! I was so mad. So I quit playing on my phone until the night and finally the volume turned back on thankfully. I still had my protective case on with my phone a month from then and everything was fine with it. For some reason though each day, my lock screen bottom got harder and harder to press, and eventually broke. I couldn’t believe it. I realized that this case of mine that was “waterproof, shockproof, dirt proof, and snow proof” wasn’t any of those. I realized that this was false advertising. Even on the picture it had a phone with its protective case under water!
I eventually got an Otterbox for my phone and this case was so much better than the one I had. But, at least I learned that not all brands tell the truth. If someone asked if they should get this type of phone case I would say not to get this case. Instead I would suggest an Otterbox to them. No wonder this case was more than 50%. This case that I bought is very bad in my opinion and I don’t like this product.
