MAD Magazine

  1. Mad Magazine Review

“What, me worry?” many people from our parents’ generation recognize this phrase. This line derives from a magazine character named Alfred E. Neuman. Alfred is the iconic symbol for an old magazine called Mad. Mad is pure childish humour and although you may need to know some current events going on to understand some, there is nothing mature about it.

Mad Magazine is full of content. There are fake commercials, funny articles, and spoofs. A spoof is usually a story or comic that makes fun of an event. There are many different artist working on each magazine. Some artist will work on spoofs while others work on filler such as the Fundalini Pages. One artist works on something called a fold-in it is a creative picture of something random, with words underneath. Then, you fold it a certain way and it shows a new picture with different captions.

There is one section in every magazine called Spy vs. Spy. There are three spies, a white, a black, and a grey spy. The black and white spy usually sabotage each other for their secret plans or just to mess with them. The grey spy is female and rarely ever appears, but when she does she usually kills both of them. This section does not have words but is very funny and creative.
Near the end of every magazine is a section called the Strip Club. It is a section full of short comic strips. Some strips are funny and creative, but most of them are random things like “Wtf Jeff or My roommate might be a serial killer. Although along with the good, comes the bad. Although the Magazine is great, it only comes once every two months. And looking at that, there isn’t nearly enough content to fill the magazine if it only comes six times a year.. In my opinion they should go back to publishing them once a month.

So, I have made my point evident. Mad is a creative magazine used to make you laugh. It has been around for years. It is childish and stupid, so it is perfect for the average teenager. I hope they continue to publish more issues. I recommend that you buy a magazine. If you enjoy it a subscription is only thirty dollars a year. I hope you consider testing out this product.
